Traditionally, wedding dresses are very elaborate with full skirts, lace, beading, embellishment or detail. In recent years though there has been a growing trend for a more minimalist style of dress which will often be a long column style with a simple but very elegant cut. Both minimalist and elaborate dresses can look amazing. What you choose for your big day really comes down to personal taste, your personality and how you want to look.

Elaborate Wedding Dresses

Your dress can be elaborate in many different ways and in varying degrees. Having a full skirt and train are probably the most popular styles of elaborate wedding dress. Other features which add to the look include beading, ruffles and other details like satin roses, lace, layered fabrics and trims. For many brides, their white wedding is probably the only chance that they will ever get to wear such an elaborate dress and they want to make the most of this opportunity. With their wedding being the most important day of their lives, they want to celebrate with a dress that ensures they are the centre of attention. The bridesmaids dresses can also be an elaborate style although (of course) they should not be as elaborate as the brides. A simple style of bridesmaid dress would also work really well. With a very detailed dress, it makes sense to keep the accessories quite simple as even on your wedding day it is possible for it just to look too much.

For those who think less is more, or want a low key wedding, a minimalist style of dress would be the best choice. You can either accessorise your minimalist dress with just a few minimalist accessories to keep the whole look really simple or you can compliment it with a statement accessory perhaps a beautiful beaded shrug or crystal tiara. It goes without saying that brides wearing a simple dress should also keep their bridesmaids dresses really simple too.

What ever dress you decide to wear it is important that it is a style that you feel comfortable in. If you want to be able to relax and enjoy your big day as well as look amazing you should opt for a style that feels right. Even if you think you are completely decided on a particular style of dress, it is well worth trying on a few different options, you might be surprised.

Finally, when thinking about your overall look for your wedding day, you will also need to think about your bouquet. A simple dress will usually look best with a simple bouquet and a more elaborate dress with a more elaborate bouquet.
